Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Bali

The Honorary Consulate does not assist in issuing passports, issuing visas to foreigners, notarizing documents, etc. In case such service is needed please contact the Consular Section of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Indonesia, Jakarta

I Nyoman Astama serves as Ukrainian Honorary Consul in Denpasar, where he leads the Honorary Consulate in trade, economic, cultural, and scientific engagement with Bali, a province that includes the island of Bali and a few smaller islands: Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Ceningan. Enigmatic Bali is the proverbial jewel in the crown of Indonesian tourism. The number of annual foreign tourist arrivals to Bali before the novel coronavirus pandemic, coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) was approximately 6 million according to statistics from Badan Pusat Statistik Provinsi Bali (BPS-Statistics of Bali Province).

Thousands of Ukrainian citizens have visited or plan to come to the Island of Gods. Around 36,000 Ukrainians went to Indonesia in the year 2019 and 30,000 of them chose as their destination Bali, the Embassy from Ukraine to the Republic of Indonesia states. Furthermore, the Information Technology (IT) sector development in Ukraine is far outpacing the segment’s average growth rates in the world (three Ukrainian startups have already achieved success at the unicorn level, meaning that they received an estimated USD 1 billion, more than a hundred companies from the Fortune 500 list resort to Ukrainian IT companies’ services), which means that a culturally rich and vibrant Bali as a well-known destination for digital nomads may become a paradise hub for Ukrainian creative industries cooperation with talented locals.

Prior to this assignment, I Nyoman Astama has been working in the tourism industry and has extensive experience of cooperation with boutique and five-star hotels, management, sales, and marketing. In the year 2019, Mr. Astama graduated from Universitas Triatma Mulya Denpasar, where he obtained the Master of Management (MM) degree. In 2014 he got the most prestigious certification from the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute, Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA). Before he was educated in the Academy of Management STIMI Handayani, Denpasar, where he became the Bachelor of Economics in the Tourism and Business Management sphere. In 2002 he passed the Hague Hotelschool Summer Course, the Netherlands.

Besides performing his function as the Honorary Consul I Nyoman Astama currently holds the post of Representative of Ukraine Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Indonesia, Managing Director of Pacific Holidays DMC, a member of Lianinti Group Bali, Founder and Corporate General Manager of the NUSA Hospitality. Previously, Mr. Astama was working as General Manager of the Fashion Hotel Legian and Renon, Trans Hotel Group, General Manager of Niksoma Group (Bali Niksoma Boutique Beach Resort, the Magani Hotel & Spa, the Bandha Suites & Spa-formerly called Maharta), General Manager of Rama Beach Resort & Villas, Executive Assistant Manager of the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel Bali.
